Maltes “hidden kitchen”

“Down Under” is a wine paradise full of surprises. So, this time we’re not going to the “Outback”, the culinary journey takes us through Eden Valley, Barossa Valley & Co. It’s worth it, I promise!

Australia is not only a land of longing for adventure tourists who want to explore the outback. Culinary-wise, the 5th continent has a lot to offer, on the one hand an exciting cuisine characterised by many different influences, but on the other hand also an exciting and fascinating wine world that is hard to beat in terms of originality and class.

On this eventful evening in Malte Kuhn’s “hidden kitchen”*, one of the hippest gourmet addresses in Baden-Baden and the surrounding area, you can get to know this diverse and unique wine world “down under” with wines from the best producers from such famous regions as Barossa Valley or Eden Valley.

Master of Wine and Australia expert Thomas Curtius will provide in-depth explanations.

This exciting tasting is accompanied by a refined 6-course menu, which the Michelin-starred patron of the house, Malte Kuhn, has specially adapted to the wine selection and which is prepared in a kitchen hidden behind a movable wall unit (“hidden kitchen”).

Such an exciting culinary evening is not to be missed.

The location

Maltes "hidden kitchen"

In the middle of the pretty pedestrian zone of this well-maintained spa town, you will come across this interesting dual concept of coffee shop and restaurant. Coffee and cake are served here during the day. In the evening, the kitchen team, headed up by eponymous proprietor Malte Kuhn, serves modern dishes – prepared in the "hidden kitchen" tucked away behind a sliding panel. They skilfully pare things down to the essentials, making the ingredients the focus of the set menu. The service is extremely friendly and professional, with the cooks also getting in on the act and the owner always on hand, too. A pleasant, cosy little restaurant with a charm all of its own – dining here makes for a really enjoyable experience!
