Bodegas Muga – Craftsmanship, Heritage, and Heart Since 1932

Bodegas Muga is a family-run winery founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño. The first wines were made in a small underground cellar, until in 1968 the family decided to build their own winery in a charming 19th-century townhouse located in the historic train station district of Haro, in the heart of Rioja Alta.

What sets Bodegas Muga apart is its dedication to quality, combining traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art winemaking techniques. The winery uses only the finest materials, maintaining authenticity while always striving for excellence.

One of Muga’s most unique features is its in-house cooperage – the only one of its kind in Spain. A master cooper and three assistants craft all vats and barrels by hand. In the cellar, time-honoured methods are still in use: wines are racked by gravity and fined with fresh egg whites, just as they were in the past.

Bodegas Muga masterfully unites deep-rooted family tradition with cutting-edge enology, preserving a distinct identity and personality that continues to evolve with the times.
