At the heart of the distinguished Margaux appellation, Château Brane-Cantenac stands. Renowned for producing wines of remarkable elegance and finesse, this 75- hectare estate is an emblem of quality and excellence.
The legend was born 250 years ago.
This great vineyard was bought in the 18th century by the Gorce family, producing one of the Medoc’s most renowned wines long before the 1855 classification.
In the 19th century, the famous Baron Jacques-Maxime de Brane, the « Napoléon des vignes » and the owner of Brane Mouton, acquired the land and renamed the property “Château Brane-Cantenac”.
Its fame, as well as the quality of its wines, allowed it to reach the rank of 2nd in the 1855 classification, and also to be named « First Second Cru ».
Today, the Lurton family has been at the helm of the property for four generations, as devoted guardians who continue to ensure that the property flourishes, producing wines of the greatest quality.
Famous for its deep, gravelly and mineral rich-soil, Brane possesses some of Margaux’s very finest plots. The heart of the vineyard is the dominant Brane ridge : a unique plateau which is the signature of Château Brane-Cantenac.
On the property, the grape varieties include 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit-Verdot, 0.6% Carménère and 0.4% Malbec.
It is in the heart of this effervescence that the following wines are born: Château Brane Cantenac, Baron de Brane and Margaux de Brane, as well as Château Brane Cantenac Blanc.
