Arriving at Laroque is a memorable moment, and the fascinating history can be felt from the outset. This history lives and breathes throughout the estate, which was initially a stronghold. Thanks to its remarkable geological heritage, La-Roque, the limestone kingdom, has been inspiring winegrowers for centuries.
Laroque is today the biggest winegrowing estate in Saint Emilion. The estate stands overlooking the Dordogne Valley, the 61 hectares of vines stretching across the hillsides, mainly old Merlot grapes, and over 20 hectares of meadows, woodland and greenery.
The Beaumartin family became the new owners of the estate in 1935 and instantly bonded with this exemplary land. After Xavier Beaumartin, it was his nephew Stanislas Droin who took over the reins of the estate. The family invested in a project of excellence thanks to the amazing potential for wine production at Laroque. David Suire was then added to the team in 2015 and a new chapter began. Today, this team is comprised of motivated, passionate winegrowers and talented professionals in the world of the vine and wine, who all play their part in bringing out the magic of the soils here.
On the southern edge of the Saint Emilion plateau, LA-ROQUE shows its true colours, and the vines are deeply rooted into the limestone soils that are so iconic for this appellation. The Laroque wines are shedding new light on the estate, with an even clearer message with regards the notion of terroir, taste and excellence. An exploration of our landscapes…
