Château Marquis de Terme

Margaux, France

Château Marquis de Terme - CC 09057

“Owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935, in the heart of the Médoc Regional Nature Park, within the prestigious Margaux appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux, stands a singular place. It is at the crossroads between a unique bucolic setting, the hustle and bustle of a wine estate and the status of a Grand Cru Classified in 1855.

Welcome to Marquis de Terme, a place of culture, encounters, experiences and transmission, where wine, heritage, nature and the unexpected blend harmoniously. An estate where luxury meets simplicity, where prestige rhymes with freedom.

Push the doors open to Marquis de Terme, to access a land full of humanity and kindness, where everyone has a place – the curious, the epicureans, the explorers, the enthusiasts – with pleasure and elegance. It’s an invitation to experience «Greater Bordeaux» differently, for a brief interlude, and to come out of it different.

We’re convinced that only the emotions we undergo, through an experience both educational and authentic, stimulate the desire to preserve and pass on the richness of our French heritage. Marquis de Terme is ultimately a château’s commitment to respecting the land and culture it has inherited. It is a responsible and dedicated commitment to the prestige of both its appellation and its classification.

Our aim is to enable as many people as possible to appreciate the fundamental experience inherent in the 1855 classification. Because we are convinced of its intangible value, we want to take it to a more global level. This is why we are committed to contributing to the preservation of France’s cultural and environmental heritage. We are privileged to be located in a unique natural and winegrowing setting that we are committed to preserving. All our actions must respect this commitment by taking into account environmental, social and societal impacts.

Beneath the apparent homogeneity of the Marquis de Terme terroir lie a few gems. In fact, it’s thanks to the subtlety and complexity of these wines that Marquis de Terme earned Thomas Jefferson recognition in 1787 as one of the 16 best Bordeaux wines and subsequently earned the prestigious 1855 classification as the 4th Grand Cru Classé. Château Marquis de Terme is the expression of this plot identity. Parcel-by-parcel selection based on the original terroir. The most advanced technical approaches and the most

innovative materials are used to bring purity and uniqueness to the wine.

The history of Château Marquis de Terme began in 1762, when Mademoiselle Ledoux d’Emplet gave the estate as a dowry to François de Peguilhan, the Marquis de Terme. Our second wine, Marquis de Terme Cuvée 1762, is a tribute to this timelessness. It is designed to be the best representation of the personality and character of our terroir. The cuvée is made from the 26 historical plots in the vineyard.”
