Beneath the apparent homogeneity of the Marquis de Terme terroir lie a few gems. In fact, it’s thanks to the subtlety and complexity of these wines that Marquis de Terme earned Thomas Jefferson recognition in 1787 as one of the 16 best Bordeaux wines and subsequently earned the prestigious 1855 classification as the 4th Grand Cru Classé. The history of Château Marquis de Terme began in 1762, when Mademoiselle Ledoux d’Emplet gave the estate as a dowry to François de Peguilhan, the Marquis de Terme. Our second wine, Marquis de Terme Cuvée 1762, is a tribute to this timelessness. It is designed to be the best representation of the personality and character of our terroir. The cuvée is made from the 26 historical plots in the vineyard.”
