Domaine Alice Hartmann

Moselle
Wormeldange, Luxembourg

One of Luxembourg’s most renowned estates for Riesling, Domaine Alice Hartmann is located on the banks of the Moselle, in the wine village of Wormeldange. For several decades now, Domaine Alice Hartmann has owned the major portion of what is undoubtedly Luxembourg’s most celebrated vineyard: the Wormeldange Koeppchen. Low yields coupled with hand-harvesting and slow maturation are key factors behind the top quality of the wines produced. “Quality above everything else” has always been the estate’s philosophy. The grapes must meet exacting quality standards before they can be used for wine production. Up to this day, the estate’s various wine-growing areas are not involved in producing wines every single year.

Domaine Alice Hartmann is located in the Upper Moselle region, on predominantly shell limestone soils. This enables the estate to cultivate Burgundy varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in addition to supremely elegant Rieslings. Most of the Riesling grows on very steep or old terraced vineyard sites, ensuring optimal exposure to the sun. The Riesling vineyards are around 50 years old on average, and the oldest is over 90 years old.
