Familia Torres has been dedicated to viticulture since the 16th century and founded its first winery in Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona, in 1870. Each generation has inherited a deep passion for winemaking, combining respect for the land and its traditions with a forward-thinking spirit of innovation.
The family has a strong presence in the renowned wine regions of Catalonia, including Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, and Costers del Segre. Beyond these historic areas, Familia Torres has expanded its expertise to other significant Spanish wine regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Rías Baixas. Today, the winery owns 1,100 hectares of vineyards and operates ten wineries across Spain. Additionally, their global influence extends to vineyards in Chile and California.
The fifth generation of Familia Torres is committed to producing exceptional wines from unique vineyards and historic estates. They are at the forefront of reviving indigenous grape varieties and promoting regenerative viticultural practices to address the challenges of climate change.
In 2008, Familia Torres launched the Torres & Earth program, placing the fight against climate change at the heart of their mission. Through innovative adaptation and mitigation strategies, they have significantly reduced CO₂ emissions and aim to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
Familia Torres is also a proud founding member of Primum Familiae Vini, an exclusive association of twelve of Europe’s most prestigious family-owned wineries with centuries-old traditions. Furthermore, they are co-founders of International Wineries for Climate Action and the Association of Regenerative Viticulture, highlighting their leadership in sustainable winemaking.
