Alberto and Giuseppe Tasca are the eighth generation managing this family winery, and they continue what has always been the family’s trademark motto: preserving tradition, creating space for innovation. On the around 500 hectares of vineyards of Tasca d’Almerita, which are spread across five wine estates in all parts of the island, it is especially the old Sicilian varietals that are cultivated and preserved. But Inzolia, Grillo, Nero d’Avola and Perricone have for many years also shared the space with international varietals. And yet, planted over 50 years ago, the head-trained alberello bush vines of Nero d’Avola in the San Lucio vineyard are still right at the top of the list of priorities.
