A well-established hunting pavilion during the reign of Louis XV and declared a Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Château Belgrave nestles among a continuous sweep of vines, surrounded by bucolic woods and parklands. Seduced by the exceptional quality of the deep gravel soils, Dourthe has had the privilege of managing the estate since 1979.
On the outskirts of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Belgrave is one of the oldest Crus in the Médoc. Its diversity of soils is perfect for the maturity of late grape varieties such as Cabernets and Petit Verdot.
Ageing on the fine lees for 12-14 months in French oak barriques defines and enhances the aromatic profile of the future wines.
Château Belgrave is defined by finesse and great elegance, and expresses the true character of this magnificent terroir. Deep and concentrated, it stands apart for its ageing capacity and aromatic complexity.
Almost a third of our land at Château Belgrave has been set aside as an important wildlife reserve to conserve biodiversity.
