Under the stewardship of Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber, Domäne Wachau has developed into one of the most important wineries in Austria, boasting a range of typical Wachau-style wines. The estate cultivates a large number of top-class sites, including world-famous vineyards such as Achleiten, Kellerberg and Singerriedel.

The ceaseless work of the winemaking families is of decisive importance in the creation of the famed wines of Domäne Wachau. Generations of these families have laboured in the Wachau’s steep terraces, and have come to know every square inch of their land. Working meticulously by hand, and utilising their vast experience, they preserve an ecological balance in the vineyards, promote the diversity of animal and plant life, and increasingly rely on the principles of organic farming. Minimalism combined with the highest level of craftsmanship – that is the winemaking philosophy in the Wachau. Tradition and innovation are seen as two sides of the same coin. In contrast to the production of expressive Rieden wines, the Backstage series is used to branch out in new directions and highlight alternative methods, particularly old ones. In every case, the focus remains on creating a harmonious union of provenance, vintage and variety.

The Domäne Wachau was voted one of the World's Best Vineyards by an international tasting panel (No. 1 in Europe & No. 3 worldwide), making it a top destination for wine lovers from all over the globe.
