Masottina is the historic brand of the Dal Bianco family, born and grown in the Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019.
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG and particularly the Rive di Ogliano exemplify the quality of wines produced by Masottina. Its world-class reputation has been further bolstered by major rankings and prizes: Wine Spectator numbered the R.D.O. Levante among the world’s 100 best wines, and it was also the recipient of the Platinum Decanter Medal – the first such awards for a Rive di Ogliano wine. The recognition began with Robert Parker, who awarded the 2011 vintage a score of 90+, and continued with Decanter magazine which has included it in the best wines of the category every year since 2012, with a special mention from Michael Edwards, who declared it: “The champ, a stunning wine with everything.” Masottina’s Contrada Granda collection also carries the Conegliano Valdobbiadene designation. Dedicated to the historic centre of Conegliano, this collection is created in the traditional way to unite the different essences of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills. Decanter chose it as its Wine of the Year, the only Italian sparkling wine to be selected in the 2021 edition.
The production of Prosecco wines boasts an enormous breadth, ranging from Prosecco Superiore to Prosecco DOC, with Prosecco DOC Treviso representing a further jewel in the crown. Over the years, the Brut version of this wine has become the Masottina brand’s ambassador around the world. In 2017, it was awarded a massive 96 points by Steven Spurrier for the Decanter magazine, still the highest score ever given to this type of wine. Masottina Prosecco wine has its own unique style, in which traditional knowledge is combined with clever use of modern technology.
