Merry Edwards Winery

Founded in 1997 by the pioneering winemaker Merry Edwards, the winery is today one of the most renowned producers of Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc in the United States.

A graduate of the prestigious UC Davis viticulture and enology program, Merry Edwards spent over two decades working as an enologist for leading Californian wineries before realizing her personal vision by establishing her own estate in the Sebastopol Hills of the Russian River Valley. Since then, the wines of Merry Edwards Winery have stood for artisanal precision, sustainable viticulture, and a profound engagement with terroir.

The winery gained particular fame for its outstanding Pinot Noirs, which are considered among the most prestigious in the entire region. As early as the 1970s, Merry Edwards recognized the exceptional potential of this grape variety in the Russian River Valley, making her a true pioneer. A Pinot Noir clone named after her—now widely used and regarded as one of California’s highest-quality clones—underscores her lasting influence on regional viticulture.

After 45 years of active winemaking, Merry Edwards passed cellar responsibilities to Heidi von der Mehden in 2018.
