In 1973, Italo Zingarelli decided to realise his lifelong dream. Up to then, Italo had been a famous and successful film producer, whose filmography includes Ettore Scola’s “We All Loved Each Other So Much” as well as the very popular series of films with the action duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (including “They Call Me Trinity” and “Trinity Is Still My Name”). But then he acquired the “Le Macìe” estate to establish a winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. It started off with around 93 hectares, of which only two hectares were planted with vines; now the winery covers more than 500 hectares, with a total of 200 hectares under vine and 22 hectares of olive groves. There are six estates belonging to the winery: Le Macìe, Sant’Alfonso, Fizzano e le Tavolelle in the Chianti Classico region, as well as the Campomaccione and Casa Maria estates in the Morellino di Scansano (Maremma) region. The wines of Rocca delle Macìe are unique: rounded, fruity, structured, and amazingly accessible from the first moment. These wines reveal a different, very elegant side to Chianti.
