The Turmberg in Karlsruhe is considered one of the most historic vineyard sites in the region. Even the Romans appreciated its sunny slopes. In 1832, Margrave Wilhelm of Baden had the characteristic terrace walls built, which still shape the appearance of the Turmberg today. On the southwest-facing slopes, wines are produced that have a clear origin and distinctive character. The State Winery Karlsruhe-Durlach carefully preserves this tradition – for example, through the elaborate manual restoration of the dry stone walls. At the same time, the winery pursues a progressive biodiversity concept that combines sustainable cultivation with a commitment to the highest quality.
