Ta’ Betta – A journey to crafting wines with personality.

Malta in a glass of fine wine.

The Maltese Islands invite you to explore a culture shaped by the influence of many civilizations: from the Phoenicians to the handover of Malta to the Knights of St. John in 1530. At that time, Malta became a fortified bastion of Christendom, led by a series of Grand Masters who gave the island its significance and character.

Two decades ago, Astrid and Juanito Camilleri welcomed Vincenzo Melia to help establish Ta’ Betta. Vincenzo, along with Bruno Pastana and Diego Planeta, played a crucial role in founding the Istituto Siciliano della Vite e del Vino and worked closely with Giacomo Tachis. Tachis, Vincenzo’s mentor, was the creator of legendary wines such as Tignanello, Solaia, and the iconic Sassicaia.

Through Vincenzo Melia, Ta’ Betta is Malta’s homage to Tachis’ winemaking style. Approximately 25,000 bottles are produced annually. Ta’ Betta is located on 4 hectares of terraced land in Girgenti, Malta.
