The Newcomer Winery is located in Abtswind in the Franconian Steigerwald. The story of the winery began in 2020 with just half a hectare of vineyards.

At the age of 19, Michael Krauß founded his own winery while still training to be a winemaker. From nothing, so to speak, he produced his first wines from grandfather’s vines in his pretty sandstone farm in the middle of the gourmet town of Abtswind. Today he already cultivates 7 hectares.

New grape varieties have been planted or grafted.

The wine collection is growing and already shows special features such as “Franconian port wine“, wines from granite and sandstone barrels. Classic grape wines such as Silvaner, Müller Thurgau, Bacchus, Domina and Pinot Gris provide the basis. Chardonnay, Scheurebe, Traminer and Schwarzriesling etc. complement the range.

Michael’s passion is not just making good wine. He has made it his mission to let interested people take a look behind the scenes. Anyone who wants to can create their own wine in the winery, make a cuvée or even visit the vineyard
