Existing since 1890, the Château de la Tour estate was built by a Monsieur Beaudet of Beaune. It is one of two buildings situated directly in the Clos de Vougeot, and would be noteworthy for its geographical location alone. Beaudet’s daughter married Jean Morin of Nuits St Georges, whose memory is still venerated today in the wine bearing his name. Jean Morin himself was more famous for his sporting prowess, appearing in both the summer and winter Olympics of 1948. His daughter married into the Labet family, who continue to operate the estate to this day. Together with his son Edouard, Francois Labet is currently responsible for the wines of both Domaine Pierre Labet and Château de la Tour, but manages both estates separately.
