Château Lynch Moussas

Bordeaux
Pauillac, France

The history of Château Lynch Moussas in Pauillac extends right back to the 18th century. Originally owned in its entirety by Count Lynch, the estate was subsequently divided up into two parts: Lynch Moussas and Lynch Bages. The main château building, together with most of the vineyards and agricultural land, remained the property of Château Lynch Moussas.
Between 1919 and 1969, the estate was in the possession of Jean Casteja, who was also the owner of Château Duhart-Milon. His brother subsequently purchased the property and made a number of improvements to the estate, including replanting of the vineyards and modernisation of the cellars and vat rooms.
Today, the extensive 60-hectare vineyard is planted to 70% with Cabernet Sauvignon and to 30% with Merlot. Manual harvesting means the grapes arrive in the modern vat rooms in perfect condition. A final inspection is carried out on the sorting table, ensuring that only the very best grapes actually go into the vats.
The Lynch Moussas wines are renowned for their deep, dark colour and their red, fruity bouquet. They are characterised by ripe tannins, followed by the hints of blackcurrant so typical of the famous Pauillac wines.
