In 1972, Paola Rovetta and her husband Paolo Rabotti moved to Monte Rossa, the historic villa on top of the hill overlooking Bornato. Paola began to live her passion by producing Franciacorta wines according to the Franciacorta method and spread this strong enthusiasm to the whole family.
Only a few years later, in 1978, Paolo Rabotti had clearly outlined what had previously been a mere vision: “I am when we are” marked the beginning of the Franciacorta system, which became a reality in 1990, when the Consorzio Franciacorta was established, with Paolo Rabotti elected as its first President.

Meanwhile, the second generation, their son Emanuele, has joined the business. He is today the winery’s manager. In his work, he is strictly guided by his parents’ passion and, as brand ambassador, has established Monte Rossa as a place for sophisticated tasting pleasure.

Today, 50 years after the business was founded, the new wine cellar has been inaugurated, born out of the need to adapt to production requirements, but carried above all by the family’s commitment to the Franciacorta region and its wines. The winery is now welcoming the third generation, which will one day take over a business that has grown into a centre of innovation and modern winemaking. In the summer, the Pusterla Vineyard, Europe’s largest urban vineyard, became part of the winery. Monte Rossa’s award-winning sparkling wines, which are greatly appreciated far beyond Italy’s borders, have been joined by the unique Cuvée Cabochon as well as the Bastione Pusterla brand, a superior white wine made according to an old tradition of the region.
