The Nonino family has been devoted to the art of distillation since 1897, when the family’s founder Orazio Nonino opened his first distillery in Ronchi di Percoto. Up to then, his business had consisted of a mobile still mounted on wheels. Grappa is Northern Italy’s oldest and most traditional spirit. It is distilled after pressing from the solid part of the grapes, known as marc or pomace. In 1973, the Nonino family invented the single-varietal Grappa Monovitigno ® Nonino, revolutionising the way the beverage is produced and presented in Italy and around the world. The Nonino family personally takes care of procuring the raw material and supervises the different distillation stages to ensure that the distillate is of absolute top quality. This is because the family’s method is subtly different: unlike many other grappa producers, it uses exclusively fresh grape marc, and this is why the distillery runs around the clock from the start of harvesting so it can process the fresh produce immediately. This extraordinary level of care gives Nonino’s products their unique clear, airy and aromatic bouquet.
