One of the oldest privately owned wineries in Austria, the name SALOMON UNDHOF has become synonymous with dry, crystal-clear Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. White wines with delicate minerality
have been produced here from the best terraced sites along the Danube since 1792. The Capuchin monks who previously owned the land had always chosen the very best sites for their vineyards, and these have since been passed on from generation to generation within the Salomon family. The first recording bottling on an Austrian vineyard took place here in 1932. SALOMON UNDHOF is a founding member of the Austrian winegrowers’ association “Traditionsweingüter Österreich”.
More than half of their 25 hectares of vineyards is planted with Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. The Salomon’s wine terraces lie in the westernmost part of the Krems valley, where the soils consist mainly of primary rock.
A healthy balance in maintained in the vineyards thanks to controlled, integrated vineyard management and avoidance of herbicides. The owners, siblings Bert and Fanny Marie Salomon, are the 9th generation to take over the family’s historic winery.

AUSTR[:AL:]IA The family connects the old with the new wine world through SALOMON ESTATE, which was founded by Bertold and Gertrud in the mid-1990s in Finniss River/Australia.
