Tenuta di Biserno-1

The Biserno Project was founded in 2001 in Bibbona (LI) by brothers Piero and Lodovico Antinori, along with their nephew Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi, now CEO. Drawing on their extensive winemaking heritage, the family recognized the unique potential of the area and conducted detailed vineyard studies that led to the development of three distinct estates: Tenuta di Biserno, Campo di Sasso, and Collemezzano.

Located in Upper Maremma, in the municipality of Bibbona near Bolgheri, the estates benefit from varied terroirs—ranging from alluvial and marine to wind- and volcanic-derived soils—as well as different microclimates due to exposure and proximity to the sea. These conditions are ideal for growing high-quality grapes with strong character.

Tenuta di Biserno (40 ha) is the original estate, with alluvial and clay-limestone soils planted with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. It produces Biserno, the flagship wine, and Pino di Biserno, a more approachable yet expressive label.

Tenuta Collemezzano, managed as a cru north of Bibbona, has 5 hectares planted in the 1990s with Bordeaux varieties. Its mineral-rich, balanced soils yield Collemezzano, made only in top vintages.

Campo di Sasso (56 ha), near the coast, enjoys sandy soils and sea breezes that moderate heat and humidity. Syrah (a signature variety), Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino are grown here. The wines—Insoglio del Cinghiale, Occhione, and Rissoa—stand out for freshness and elegance.
