The origins of Tenute Rubino go back to the 1980s, when Tommaso Rubino, a passionate advocate of the vinicultural and oenological potential of Apulia, created a stock of vineyards distributed across five estates. The goal was to coax the very best out of the local terroir by creating hand-crafted wines which celebrate the indigenous grapes of Apulia, including Primitivo and Negroamaro, and to breathe new life into the endangered Susumaniello variety. In 1999, Tommaso founded the Tenute Rubino brand together with his son Luigi and daughter-in-law Romina, basing their operations in the Brindisi region of Apulia. Today, the Tenute Rubino winery produces a range of authentic wines which reflect the unique terroir, and are reviving the reputation of Apulian viniculture throughout the world. In March 2020, the company received the Equalitas certification (Sustainable Organization Module), demonstrating compliance with a standard for promoting global sustainability in the farming and wine making sectors.
