The Blankenhorn Winery is located in the heart of Schliengen in the Markgräflerland region and has been in existence since 1847. For five generations, the Blankenhorn family managed the estate. In 2014, Martin Männer took over the winery in Markgräflerland, situated in the southwesternmost part of Germany, bordering France and Switzerland. Since then, he has carried out extensive renovations, restructuring, and modernization to prepare it for the future. The historic estate house has now been restored to its long-lost original form. Inside, visitors will find a vinotheque, a wine bar, and spacious event rooms—places for gathering, learning about wine, and experiencing culture. Blankenhorn Winery cultivates the region’s signature grape variety, Gutedel, bringing out its often underestimated complexity and versatility—from easy-drinking estate wines to outstanding single-vineyard wines with distinctive character. The winery is equally passionate about the great Burgundy and Bordeaux varieties, which thrive in the region’s ideal terroir. The vines benefit from the mild Mediterranean climate, funneled into the Markgräflerland through the Burgundian Gate between the Jura Mountains and the Vosges. The region’s limestone-rich soils produce wines of outstanding quality—complex, intensely mineral, and elegantly structured.
