Nestled between the gently sculpted Brohmer Hills and the Baltic Sea breeze lies Schloss Rattey Winery – with over 35 hectares of vineyards, the largest castle estate winery north of the Main River. Part of Inselmühle Usedom since 2019, this estate demonstrates how ambitious winemaking in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has become today.

Sandy-loamy soils retain daytime warmth and cool off quickly at night, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and preserve a vibrant acidity. Over 16 fungus-resistant varieties, including Solaris, Muscaris, Johanniter, Souvignier Gris, Phoenix, and Regent, thrive in this microclimate and enable sustainable, environmentally friendly cultivation with minimal need for fungicides.

In the cellar, the team relies on gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation, and a combination of stainless steel and wood to unite clarity with depth. The result: fragrant, fresh white wines, delicate rosés, and juicy reds with a moderate alcohol content of 12–13% vol. Our wines have repeatedly received more than 90 points from Falstaff, while gold and grand gold medals further underscore our quality path.

With North German understatement, we steadily strive to establish the Northeast as an additional recognized German wine region.
