At Weinhaus Tesdorpf, wine is at the centre of everything we do. Working together with our international vintners, our daily business is ensuring you have unforgettable experiences with our wines. Tesdorpf stands for modern tradition, professional advice and top-quality enjoyment. Our motto is: Fine Wine. Since 1678. This was the year in which Peter Hinrich Tesdorpf – a merchant’s son who became a senator and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck – opened his wine trading house. Weinhaus Tesdorpf is therefore the oldest continually operating wine trading business in Germany. In the 17th century, Lübeck was a hub for the wine trade across the whole of Northern Europe. During its long history, Weinhaus Tesdorpf has supplied wine to literary giants such as Goethe and the Mann family. The Manns lived only a short distance away from the Tesdorpfs in Lübeck. The Tesdorpf family also supplied fine wines to the Scandinavian royal courts, the Russian Tsars and the Prussian kings. Over time, close contacts were established with wine traders in Bordeaux, a valuable relationship that exists to this very day. As was customary until the early part of the 20th century, the trading house bought countless barrels from great Bordeaux estates such as Haut-Brion, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Pavie and Margaux, which were then stored and bottled in Lübeck. The wines bottled by Tesdorpf enjoyed an excellent reputation, and this tradition lives on in our Rotspon wines. Although renowned Bordeaux wines are now bottled directly at their respective estates, they still form part of our range. Weinhaus Tesdorpf has now established itself as one of the most important online retailers for fine wines. Our customers can choose from a portfolio of more than 4000 top-class champagnes and wines from all over the globe.
